Tenuta del Barone di Montemurlo — Tuscan extra virgin olive oil
Buying our oil
You buy it here, from the people who make it: shipped to your door, or collected at the estate in Montemurlo. No middlemen, and no months sitting in a warehouse.
Buying from the grower
We sell only our own oil, and we sell it ourselves. There is no distributor in between and no warehouse where the oil waits for the right season: what reaches you was milled here, 870 metres from the grove, and bottled when it was needed.
The difference is not always the price — buying direct is not automatically cheaper than a supermarket shelf. It is that every bottle has a hill, a picking date and a mill behind it. Those three things decide what an olive oil tastes like, and they are the three a supermarket label almost never tells you.
What a litre costs
It depends on the size, and it depends a lot. A quarter-litre bottle costs more per litre: you are paying for the glass, the cap and the packaging that keeps it safe. A three or five litre tin costs less, and reserving oil from the coming harvest — before it is milled — is the lowest price we can offer.
All in, a litre of our oil sits between twelve and thirty euros depending on the size you pick. The exact price of each one is on the two oil pages, alongside what is left in stock: we do not repeat it here, because a page that goes stale is worse than a page that points you to the right place.
Shipping
Within Italy, two to four working days, with shipping included above 69 euros. We ship across the European Union and worldwide too, with times and costs that depend on where it is going.
Bottles and tins travel in shock-proof packaging. If something arrives broken, write to us within 48 hours with a photo and we send it again.
Collecting it yourself
You can, by appointment. The grove is at Via Baronese 28 in Montemurlo, in the province of Prato, on the hills between Prato and Pistoia — about ten minutes by car from the Prato Ovest motorway exit.
Call +39 379 288 5434 or send us a WhatsApp message and we will arrange a time. Anyone who comes in person can taste both oils before choosing, which is the only real way to know whether you prefer the sharp bitterness of Luce or the balance of Raccolto.
Reserving the harvest
If you know you will need oil all year, you can reserve a quantity before it is milled: from ten litres upwards, at the lowest price, with the certainty of having it even in a thin year.
It is how olive oil was sold before supermarkets existed, and for us it is the most useful thing a customer can do: knowing in advance how much of the harvest is already spoken for changes how we plan the picking.
